Peace Lutheran began in the fall of 1992 when Pastor William Mack came to south Lakeland to begin an exploratory mission. Worship services were first conducted in the Ritz Ballroom at the Highland Square Shopping Center, and then in the band room of the newly constructed George Jenkins High School. Soon a unit in the Highland Square Shopping Center was rented for full time use of the mission.
Pastor Mack accepted a call to another congregation in 1996, and Pastor Joel Willitz accepted the call to serve as pastor of Peace Lutheran. In February of 1997, ground was broken for the current building at 5970 Lakeland Highlands Road, directly in front of George Jenkins High School. Construction was completed in about one year, and the congregation dedicated the facility on February 15, 1998. After Pastor Joel Willitz accepted a call in January of 2007, Pastor Norman Madson came to serve at Peace Lutheran.
On July 1, 2007, Pastor Andrew Schmidt was Ordained and Installed as Peace Lutheran Church's new pastor. He continues to serve as the pastor today. Pastor Schmidt and Peace Lutheran continue to serve the community of Lakeland with the saving Word of God.
